Over $150,000 of marijuana destroyed

A recent find of marijuana plants in the eastern part of Saline County, have been seized and destroyed.

The Saline County Sheriff's Office and the Southern Illinois Drug Task Force recently removed 70 marijuana plants from a location south of state Route Illinois 13 near Ben Road in Saline County, according to a press release from the sheriff's office. The 70 plants had a street value of over $150,000.

The plants were discovered from a recent fly-over and removed by officers of both agencies and destroyed. Saline County Sheriff Keith Brown reminds residents that marijuana production is still illegal in Illinois.
