  • The defense was there according to Harrisburg head soccer coach Mike Stewart.
The offense was the one that struggled in a 3-1 loss at Anna-Jonesboro Monday.
“Our offense moved the ball well tonight, we just couldn’t find the back of the nets. At times I thought we were timid when it came to shooting, but we were able to penetrate the Wildcats’ defense several times.”
One of those scoring chances came at the early in the second half when Anfernee Houston fired one home to give Harrisburg the 1-0 lead.
At the 70th minute mark, A-J scored tying the game at 1-all and the Wildcats then proceeded to get two more goals.
Still, Stewart said he was pleased with his teams defensive performance, where senior goal keeper Ryan Cowsert made 14 saves on the day, despite picking up the loss.
“The defense did an outstanding job shutting the Wildcat scoring machine down,” he said. “ We held them scoreless in the first half and to play A-J like this in our first meeting of the season is very encouraging.
“I really liked what I saw tonight,” Stewart said. “There are certain areas we need to work on, but they are not the difficult things. If we work out the kinks, I can see exciting things for this Bulldog squad.”
Harrisburg is now 3-2 on the year, while A-J gets off to a 1-0 start.
