  • It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of their beloved mother… Donna L. Monroe died peacefully at home on Sunday, Aug. 24, 2014, with her family by her side.
    Donna was born in Ridgway on Sept. 2, 1942, to the late Freddie and Cordelia (Murphy) Monroe. She was a homemaker and a Baptist by faith. She loved to be with her family and friends. Donna was a good mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by her entire family.
    She is survived by her four daughters, Debra Cordes (Eddie), Darla Toombs, Rhonda Vizzini (Danny) and Pamela Toombs. She is also survived by four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and her siblings, Jack (Sally) Monroe of North Vernon, Ind., Annis Monroe (Rodney) Barker of Shawneetown, Larry Monroe of Harrisburg and Linda Price Carter (Melvin) of West Virginia.
    She is pre-deceased by her parents, Cordelia Murphy Monroe and Freddie Monroe; and her three siblings, Donald Ray, Doris Jean and Frances Eugene.
    A private family burial will be held at All Saints Mausoleum, New Orleans, La.
    Cox & Son Funeral Home in Ridgway is entrusted with local arrangements.
