  • Prep Baseball: Eagles split in action over weekend

  • The Eldorado High School baseball team spilt a pair of contest over the weekend, falling to West Frankfort 12-1 and knocking off Webber Township 9-7
    The Eagles struck and early and often against Webber, jumping out to a 4-1 lead after one inning and poured on the the runs with three in the third and another two in the fifth.
    Eldorado had 12 hits on the day as Tyler Deaton and Adam Ninness each went 3-for-4 from the plate. Ninness had two RBI and Deaton scored a run. Drew Woolcott and Richard Graceffa each went 2-for-3 and Graceffa had a pair of RBI and scored two runs, while Woolcott scored three runs and had an RBI.
    The other hits on the day belonged to Stanton Hathaway and Dylan Roberts. Hathaway scored a run and finished with an RBI, while Roberts had an RBI.
    Adam Collier had an RBI and scored a run, while Dylan Riddle had an RBI and scored a run.
    Woolcott picked up the win, going 4.1 innings, striking out five, while giving up five hits and six runs (five earned). Max Kasiar worked an inning of relief, striking out two, while giving up three hits and one run. Deaton closed out the game with three strikeouts and just two hits over 1.2 innings.
    In the loss, to West Frankfort, the Eagles had just two hits on the day as Tyler Deaton and Drew Woolcott both reached. Woolcott scored the lone run as Adam Ninness had an RBI for Eldorado.
    Braydon VanZant took the loss, going four innings and allowing 13 hits and nine earned runs, while striking out two and walking four.
