  • Elverado had a 2-0 lead after two innings in Thursday’s home game against Black Diamond Conference foe Eldorado, but the Eagles were able to come back and take the lead 6-2 before lightning in the area cut the game short after five innings.
Walks to Eli Fennell and Keaton Tyner and a base hit by Nolan Waller helped the Falcons grab a 1-0 edge in the bottom of the first against Eldorado starter Adam Collier.
In the bottom of the second inning, Austin Hester was hit by a pitch and later scored following a walk to Ethan Keller and a single by Fennell.
Keller, the Elverado starting pitcher, was strong for the first two frames, not allowing a hit until there were two outs in the top of the third inning when Drew Woolcott, Collier and Stanton Hathaway strung together three two-out singles to tie the game.
Adam Ninness was hit with a Keller pitch in the top of the fourth and scored two batters later on a single by Bryson Sigler, who later scored following Josh Pilkington’s base hit. Through three and a half, the Eagles were up 4-2.
Three more Eldorado hits in the top of the fifth plated two more runs to make it 6-2, and Collier pitched around a pair of base runners in the bottom of the fifth, striking out the side just before lightning appeared in the sky.
Collier allowed four hits, five walks, and struck out eight for the Eagles. Keller gave up eight hits and walked one with two strikeouts for the Falcons.
Woolcott (1-3), Collier (2-3, 2B), Hathaway (2-2, BB), Sigler (1-2), Pilkington (1-2) and Richard Graceffa (1-3) had hits for Eldorado.
EHS’s four hits came from Keller (1-2, BB), Fennell (1-2, BB), Waller (1-2, BB) and Braden Tuthill (1-3, 2B).
