  • The sizzling start for the Gallatin County baseball team continued Wednesday with a 14-3 win at Hardin County.
    The Hawks now stand at 18-1 overall and 7-0 in Greater Egyptian Conference play, picking up their seventh conference win of the season.
    Tyler Crayne pitched a complete game to pick up the win on the bump for the Hawks, striking out 10.
    At the plate, Crayne helped his own cause going 3-for-5, while Marcus Wargel, Zach McGuire, Jared Jackson and Kory Hise also contributed with multiple hits at the plate.
    Carrier Mills-Stonefort 10, Pope County 0
    GOLCONDA — The Carrier Mills-Stonefort baseball team earned a 10-0 win over Pope County Thursday in Greater Egyptian Conference action.
    With the win, the Wildcats improved to 9-7 overall and 6-0 in league play.
    Carrier Mills-Stonefort used five different pitchers in the win as Dalton Summers, Loren Whiting, Darren Betz, Anthony Kalodner and Brice Batson all saw mound time.
    The Wildcats scored four runs in the third, followed by four more in the fourth and finished the game with two more runs in the sixth.
    In the third, Kalodner tripled and scored on a Walker RBI single. Betz followed suit with a two-run home run. Crowder then singled to score Whiting.
    In the fourth, Cantrell walked and Kalodner singled. Betz then hit a three-run home run and after Whiting tripled, Summers drove him in with an RBI single.
    In the sixth, Betz doubled and was driven in by Summers. Hill then singled to drive in Summers.
    Carrier Mills-Stonefort returns to action Monday at Hardin County.
