Carrier Mills woman sentenced to 10 years
A Carrier Mills woman pled guilty and was sentenced Wednesday to 10 years incarcerating on charges of being a felon in possession of a weapon and violating probation.
Natalie M. Cannon, 26, Carrier Mills, was inside a house where there was an active methamphetamine lab on Jan. 22, according to a release by the Saline County State's Attorney Mike Henshaw.
Harrisburg Police located a switchblade knife in Cannon's possession during a search of the residence.
The weapons charge resulted in the 10 year sentence in Illinois Department of Corrections along with a one year mandatory supervised release and costs. The charge is a Class 3 felony normally punished by a two- to five-year sentence, but this offense has an extended sentence of two to 10 years by statute, according to the release.
Cannon was also sentenced to a term of three years in IDOC, one year mandatory supervised release and costs for a violation of probation stemming from a 2012 arrest for unlawful possession of controlled substance. The sentences were ordered to run concurrent.
Assistant State's Attorney Jason A. Olson led the successful prosecution.
