  • Prep Girls Hoops: Harrisburg falls short to Massac County on the road

  • The Harrisburg High School girls’ basketball team suffered its first Southern Illinois River-to River Conference, Ohio Division loss of the season, falling to Massac County 54-45 last Thursday night.
    The Bulldogs put three players in double figures as Ashley Ferrell led all scorers with 12 points. Alexa Burtis banked in 11 points and Kelsey Hobbs tacked on 10 points.
    Harrisburg fell behind 15-9 after one quarter of play, but quickly rebounded and cut the Patriot lead to 28-20 at halftime.
    The Bulldogs outscored Massac County 17-13 in the third quarter, but were outscored 13-8 in the final eight minutes.
    Lindsey Murray added eight points for the Bulldogs, while Hanna Jones finished with four points.
