  • The Eldorado High School girls' basketball put four players in double figures as the Eagles routed Gallatin County 69-39 on the hardwood Tuesday night.
Kourtney Phillips put up a team-high 22 points on 10-of-19 shooting from the field, while fellow classmate and forward Erica Graczyk had 16 points on 7-of-17 shooting.
Taylor Goodley tacked on 11 points for Eldorado (6-1) and Abby Steed had 10 points to round out the double digit scoring.
In all, the Eagles shot 43 percent from the field, but head coach Josh Bradley said the stat sheet can be deceiving.
"To be honest, I felt like we struggled a little bit tonight and when I say that, I mean we're stuck inbetween wanting to attack and push the basketball and being patient and running our offense.
"I think what's going to work in our favor is for the girls to understand we can be just as efficient setting up an offense as we can racing up and down the floor."
Eldorado jumped out to a 16-10 lead and outscored Gallatin County 20-11 in the second quarter to take a 36-21 at the break.
In the second half, Eldorado outscored Gallatin County 19-11 in the third period and 14-7 in the game's final eight minutes.
It was a second half that Bradley felt his team got more comfortable in its offense.
"That's when the shooting percentage went up," he said. "In the first half, we missed too many (shots) just because we were playing too fast."
Jacqlyn Artman chipped in with six points for Eldorado, while Caitlyn Stafford and Brooklyn Peavler each had two points.
Eldorado went on to grab 36 rebounds, come away with 15 steals and only committed eight turnovers on the night.
The Eagles return to action Thursday when they open up Black Diamond Conference play with Carmi-White County at Duff-Kingston Gymnasium.
The Eldorado junior varsity team lost by one-point, 38-37.
