  • Opening night for the Harrisburg Middle School Musical is only four days away.
The cast seems energetic and unfazed but the art and music directors are wishing they had one more week.
"You will always hear the directors say they need another week," said Kathy Hanrahan.
She is the East Side music director and this is the first year she and Harrisburg High School art teacher Sara DeNeal are directing the middle school production.
"We are a team, music and art," Hanrahan said.
The show is a musical based on the children's book "The Adventures of Flat Stanley."
Stanley gets flattened by a bulletin board fairy princess. Since he now fits in an envelope the local post office woman mails him to exotic places like Paris, Hollywood and HawaIi.
He experiences the local music in each place before deciding there is no place like home.
Paige Gulley, 12 plays the fairy princess. Jack Gulley, 12, (no relation) plays Flat Stanley.
"I learned how to sing here at school," said Jack.
"I feel proud about my singing but I would rather be an actor than a rock star."
Opening night is 7 p.m. Friday and there will be a 7 p.m. performance on Saturday also.
