For the second straight season, the Eldorado High School girls' golf team is going to the state tournament.
Finishing behind eventual Class 1A sectional champion Nashville (340) and second place finisher Massac County (345), Eldorado shot a 355 led by Taylor and Ashton Goodley.
Taylor Goodley's 73, good enough for second place, was just two strokes off Shawn Rennegarbe's 71, who took medalist honors.
"Taylor played a very good round," head coach Greg Goodley said. "Effingham Country Club was a very tough course, but Taylor played it very smart and executed her game plan."
Ashton Goodley carded an 80, where her head coach said she did a good job of scrambling.
"She did what she had to do to keep herself in the top four overall and finished strong with two birdies on the last two holes.
Taylor Aldridge finished with a 99 and Sam Mings shot a 103 for Eldorado.
Playing as individuals at Monday's sectional, but not advancing were the Harrisburg trio of Alexa Burtis (94), Skylar Street (99) and Gabriella Tison (124).
"Alexa and Skylar both opened with 51's on the difficult Effingham Country Club," Harrisburg head coach Mike Tison said. "But rallied with better back nines. It was Alexa's second visit to sectionals and Skylar and Gabriella's first visit. All three worked hard this year to improve all aspects of their game.
At the boys' sectional Saturday in Salem, Harrisburg's Alexander Tison shot an 80, while Dillon Sreet carded an 82.
"It took a 76 at the sectional at Salem to qualify for state," Tison said. "Both Alexander and Dillon just made too many bogeys to advance. However, they both finished near the top and represented Harrisburg well."
