The position that Brandon Hampton is in right now puts any La-Z-Boy to shame.
The Eldorado football head coach is comfortably in the playoffs after a Week 6 win over Fairfield. And in that same vein, Hampton remaining slate of three games, features two on Saturday's, giving him ample opportunity to prepare his ballclub for the postseason.
Hampton and Eldorado get that first opportunity this Saturday when the Eagles travel to Johnston City.
Hampton emphasized the fact that his Eagles' focus doesn't sway at this point, re instilling that the next game on the schedule is the most important.
"We feel very fortunate and like the position we're in being 6-0 at this point," Hampton said. "Our kids have answered any challenge they have had in front of them and the key thing for us is we are pretty healthy.
"Our approach and focus wont change," Hampton added." But, it is a benefit to us that the last two of three games to end the season are on Saturday. That's the only change or focus we'll look too."
Right now, Eldorado is looking towards Johnston City. An Indian ballclub that will celebrate homecoming Saturday and is currently 2-4 in the Black Diamond Conference.
Levi Tanner is currently ninth in southern Illinois in terms of passing. The Indian quarterback has thrown for 556 yards and two touchdowns this season.
On the flip side, Eldorado comes to town boasting the area's best defense and the fifth best offense.
Historically, Johnston City and Eldorado have played close ballgames. Hampton is sure Saturday will be another one.
"You look at their record and you can't really focus on that," he said. "It's their homecoming and they'll be excited to defend their home field. They are also a team that has to win out in order to be eligible for the playoffs. We know these last three week's we're going to get three great efforts. We're focused on Johnston City because that is the next game on our schedule and we've got to improve from Week 6 to Week 7.
"As thrilled as we were about the outcome (last Friday night), there were some areas that we need to fix this week. We struggled with penalties and had some costly turnovers, gave up a big play on defense. "
