It was the most fitting way the Eldorado girls' golf club could close out the regular season. Arguably one of southern Illinois best this past fall, the Eagles set a new scoring record Thursday at Shawnee Hills Country Club in Harrisburg.
With three Eagles shooting in the 30's, Eldorado shot a 154, besting last year's 156 team total for the new school record.
Taylor Goodley shot a 2-under, 34, posting her best individual score of the year with two birdies in a row.
Ashton Goodley shot a one-over, 37 and Sam Mings broke 40 for the first time, shooting a 39. Taylor Aldridge had a 44 to round out the scoring.
Reagan Gray and Jacqlyn Artman each had a 47 for the Eagles.
"I'm very proud of our team and their approach with the regional coming up next Wednesday," Eldorado head coach Greg Goodley said. "We need to stay with the approach that I've seen the last couple of weeks, and we will put ourselves in a position to compete and to advance to the next step. The work is in, time to get it done."
Harrisburg sophomore Alexa Burtis broke 40 for the first time in high school match, shooting a 37 for the Bulldogs Thursday.
Gabriella Tison added a 47 and Skylar Street shot a 48. Collins Lambert and Lindsey Murray each had a 51 and Kaylynn Owens had a 59.
BENTON — The Harrisburg High School boys' golf team finished up their regular season with a triangular win over Carmi-White County and Benton.
Harrisburg shot a 149, knocking out Carmi-White County (151) and Benton (159) Thursday at Benton Country Club.
Alexander Tison closed out the regular season campaign with a 34 for the Bulldogs. The senior was 2-under with three birdies and one bogey on his scorecard.
Dillon Street shot a 37, finishing with 11 puts in nine holes. Ryan Williams and Patrick Bittle each carded a 39, while Ben Fowler finished with a 40 and Garrett Jenkins provided a 46.
