  • In a tuneup before Tuesday's Southern Illinois River-to-River Conference Golf Tournament at Hickory Ridge Golf Course, the Harrisburg boys flexed their muscle against conference foe Herrin at Pine Lakes Monday.
Having never lost at home, the Tigers shot a 164, eight strokes off of Harrisburg's 156.
Harrisburg's Ben Fowler took medalist honors with a 37, while Alexander Tison carded a 39.
"Ben had a solid round," Harrisburg head coach Mike Tison said. "He would have been lower at Carmi last week but suffered a bad break when they added in-course out of bounds earlier in the year that he didn't know about. He really is starting to play well. It was a nice win for us today since Herrin was undefeated in matches this year and we beat them on their own course."
Ryan Williams and Dillon Street turned in a pair of 40's, while Garrett Jenkins shot a 45 and Patrick Bittle finished with a 47.
On the girls' side, Eldorado edged both Herrin and Harrisburg by shooting a 172.
Herrin finished with a 178, while Harrisburg came in with a 203.
Eldorado's Ashton Goodley took medalist honors with a 36 as the junior saved some pars with nice chips around the green, including converting on a birdie to cover a bogey.
Taylor Goodley wasn't too far behind with a 37, while Taylor Aldridge came away with a 48 and Sam Mings carded a 51.
Taylor Goodley had a nice round, but just couldn't get a birdie to drop to cover the bogey," EHS head coach Greg Goodley said. "I thought Taylor Aldridge played well today, had one hole that upended her score, but you take out that one hole did a nice job for us today. Again, Sam had a solid day from tee to green."
For the Bulldogs, Alexa Burtis led the way with a 40, while Skylar Street shot a 51. Lindsey Murray carded a 54 and Gabriella Tison finished up with a 58. Collins Lambert had a 60 and Kaylynn Owens shot a 63.
