The Village of Carrier Mills will be hosting three days for residents to bring in and drop off items that will clean up their residences and the village.
The village has purchased, as well as, several dumpsters have been donated by Bulldog Systems and SIDCO, both of Harrisburg, so residents can drop off items to clean up the town.
The clean-up days are 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Sept. 19, 20 and 21 each day. The dumpsters will be located on the down town parking lot in Carrier Mills.
Also from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20, Baby Huey's from Mattoon will be on hand to pick up electronics. Baby Huey's state, "that if you can plug it in, they will take it." The electronic drop-off is free as well, except for televisions. Baby Huey's asks for a $5 donation to dispose of a television, but all other electronics will be free to drop them off.
The clean-up days have been very successful over the past few years.
Last year the village hosted a tire pick-up day and was able to load a semi truck full of used tires.
Tires, paint, hazardous materials, and electronics can not go into the dumpsters and taken to the land fill. Those items will not be accepted, electronics will only be accepted on Friday.
