  • Speed kills and Harrisburg High School soccer coach Mike Stewart learned first hand Thursday night.
    Alex King scored five goals, Dalton Mitchell had three goals and Matt Fasnaught had a a goal as the Patriots shutout Harrisburg 9-0 on the road.
    "Massac had the speed on top and we just had trouble shutting them down," Stewart said. "Our heads were just not in the game. Massac came to play and the score showed it."
    Stewart said the team's thoughts are currently with Bulldog junior Nathaniel Harris has he was taken off the field in an ambulance due to a collision with a Massac County player.
    Ryan Cowsert took the loss in goal for the Bulldogs as he came away with two saves in 80 minutes of action.
    "Being a young team, there are still area we need to work on," Stewart said. "Defensively the offside trap would have worked but we just could not get it together."
    Harrisburg is scheduled to play host to Herrin Saturday at 11 a.m. at Michael Herrin Field.
