The 4th annual Rustle Hill Winery “Pick of the Vine” event will be noon to 8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 22.
Organizers promise the event will showcase some of Southern Illinois’ best musicians, restaurants and artisans in support of one of the region’s greatest causes, the Fowler-Bonan Foundation Clothes for Kids program. Live music starts at noon with Zola Road followed by Kristin Kearns — both with Harrisburg roots, Blue Afternoon, and County Graves throughout the afternoon and evening, according to a release from the Fowler-Bonan Foundation.
“We are once again honored and very appreciative of the folks at Rustle Hill Winery for hosting this great event and joining in our quest of providing new shoes and clothes for less fortunate children thoughout Southern Illinois,” said Dale Fowler, President of the Fowler Bonan Foundation. “Not only has Rustle Hill Winery joined in our mission, but after becoming involved with our Foundation, events manager Teri Hammond from the Winery joined our Board of Directors and has become very active and passionate.”
“I’m totally amazed at what this Foundation does for the children of Southern Illinois and honored to be a part of helping them continue to grow the Foundation and help more children,” said Hammond. “This event promises to be a lot of fun while supporting this great cause. Every single person that attends will be helping a child while having the opportunity to learn more about the Fowler-Bonan Foundation and their great works.”
In addition to the amazing live music there will be many food vendors including Rustle Hill Winery, Brickhouse Grill, Open Gate Meats, The Blue Boar and Bible Grove BBQ. Area artisans Tom Horn, Mary Patterson, and others will be selling their gorgeous locally made wares on site, and magician Tim Needham will be wowing the crowd throughout the day. There will be a live auction in the evening with items donated by supportive community businesses such as Rustle Hill Winery, Grand Rivers Distillery, Big Muddy Brewing, Venegoni Distributing, Peoples National Bank, and more.
The Fowler-Bonan Foundation supplies hundreds of children each year throughout Southern Illinois with new shoes and clothes to wear to school. Each child receives at least three pair of jeans, three shirts, shoes, underwear, socks and coat. The program is completely confidential as children are referred by school teachers, social workers, and administrators.
Admission is $5 per person and 100 percent of the proceeds go to the Fowler Bonan Foundation as well as all auction proceeds and a percentage of the vendor sales. An information table will be set up as well for anyone that would like to stop by and learn more about the Fowler Bonan Foundation.
The event is open to all ages. ID’s will be checked and those over 21 will be given wristbands if they wish to drink alcohol. Rustle Hill Winery opens at 10 a.m. and is located at 8595 US Highway 51 N in Cobden (8 miles south of Carbondale and 8 miles north of Anna).
