"Believe!" is the theme; giving is the game.
Free food and lots of entertainment will be offered at Little Chapel Church on starting at 2 p.m. both Saturday, Aug. 31 and Sunday, Sept. 1, at 859 Highway 34 North, Harrisburg.
The church started small in 1936 and now numbers in the hundreds. It is Bible based, Christian and believes in giving back to the surrounding community.
Liberty Fest was a staple of Saline County Labor Day weekend festivities until last year when road construction on state Route 34 would have complicated traffic.
"Liberty Fest is free because we understand the financial pressures on many in our community. Unemployment is a problem and this gives folks a way to relax without worrying about finances," said Barry Steed, a spokesman for the church. "We have people from the local business community supporting us, people from Chicago, Louisiana, Georgia and all over the midwest."
The entertainment offered ranges from viewing monster machines for tractor pull competitions — no competition will be held, live music, food and drinks.
There will be a car pull, strongman competition, Karaoke Contest and washer pitching contest.
This year's theme will honor the military and conclude with a massive fireworks display on Sunday night.
