This female EMT was attacked by a drug overdose victim while she was treating the drug user, according to a spokesperson for the Hardin County Sheriff's Department Friday morning.
The EMT will need surgery to fully recover from the attack said the spokesperson. This was the first serious injury of the Gathering at the Hogrock Campground outside Cave-In-Rock that officially began Wednesday, though fans had been gathering in the area since last weekend.
The annual event draws upwards of 10,000 fans of Insane Clown Posse that ends Sunday.
Three other arrests were made this week for possession of drug paraphernalia and one arrest was made for aggravated battery. An arrest for theft under $500 was also made and EMT have responded to at least eight drug overdoses.
Illinois State Police and the Hardin County Sheriff's Department are out in force to protect the public as rock fans swell the county's population from 4,000 to 14,000 over the weekend.
