Some one in Chicago once said, "Vote early, vote often."
Here in Harrisburg the Saline County Clerk's Elections Office prevents that type of fraud by purging the records in advance of every election.
County Clerk Kim Buchanan had her staff going through the files this week looking for those who have died and those who have moved and not provided a new address.
Buchanan said, "The state wants files up to date every odd year by Labor Day. The next election cycle begins the Tuesday after Labor Day. Our office has been working on it. Every registered voter will get a card in the mail," she said.
"Cards go out to voters in the mail daily. If the post office notifies us that the card is undeliverable, then we know we have a problem. Everyone should have gotten their cards in the mail by Thursday. If they check the information we have for them and it is correct, then they need not take any action. If something is incorrect then they should call us and we will correct it."
Those whose cards show inaccuracies may contact (618) 253-3028 and ask for Julie or Kim.
