Fredia Marie Williams, age 81, of Harrisburg passed away at 9:55 a.m. Monday, July 1, 2013, at her residence surrounded by her family.
Fredia was born on July 22, 1931, in Dexter, Mo., to the late John Edward and Ethel (Beaird) Long. On Oct. 3, 1947, she married John (Jay) Holland Williams and he preceded her in death Nov. 26, 1991.
Surviving family members include her daughter: Sharon and husband William Sanders of Shawneetown; son: Mike Williams of Harrisburg; son: Garry and wife Katherine Williams of Harrisburg; brother: John Edward Long Jr. and wife Nancy of Aurora; sister: Shirley and husband Lonnie DeWitt of Sikeston, Mo.; sister: Brenda Manker of Murray, Ky.; brother: Richard and wife Diana Long of Johnston City, Tenn.; sister: Diane and husband Dennis Ledbetter of Sikeston, Mo.; sister: Sherry and husband Richard Howell of New Madrid, Mo.; son-in-law: Roger Hill of Galatia; bro-in-law: Dean Riley of Blodgett, Mo.; two grandchildren: David and wife Jennifer Hale of Galatia; and William (J.R.) and wife Lauren Sanders of Equality; three great-grandchildren: Taylor, Trevor and Tristen Hale of Galatia; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband: Jay Williams; daughter: Carolyn Gail Hill; four brothers: Bobby Dale Long; Ronnie Long and Frankie and Charles in infancy; one sister: Doris Riley.
A private family funeral services will be held noon Wednesday, July 3, 2013, at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg. The Rev. Cherrie Wilkerson will officiate. Burial will follow in Durham Cemetery in Galatia. Public visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday, July 3, 2013, at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois or Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
