The first celebration of the Wing.A.Ma.Jig Festival drew hundreds of hungry and thirsty folks Saturday in downtown Harrisburg.
Mayor Eric Greg said, "This is good for Harrisburg. We should have more events on the square."
The event lasted from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. with judging of the wings competition beginning at 4 p.m.
The People’s Choice Award — a big traveling trophy with chicken wings on it — went to Legence Bank.
In the mild wings category Wes and Ericka Gwaltney took first place, Legence Bank took second and Team Larson took third. In the hot wings category Erik Larson and Rebecca Martinez took first, Team Gwaltney took second and Legence took third.
Local bands played all afternoon on a stage in the square.
The weather was sunny and a bit hot. Shade was scarce except in the tented area for eating wings and drinking beer.
