Charlotte A. Walter, age 81, of Harrisburg, passed away at 8 a.m. Saturday, June 1, 2013, at her residence surrounded by her family.
She was born on June 5, 1931, in Akron, Ohio, to the late Gerald Dale and Macel Anna (Johnson) Hobson. She married Robert Ray Walter Nov. 27, 1955, and he preceded her in death Oct. 16, 1990.
She was a member of the First Christian Church where she was active in many roles; she was also a member of Saline County Home Extension Board — Town and Country Unit; the Daniel H. Brush Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution; Former 4-H leader and volunteer; and was a volunteer for the Blood Drive, Chossier Kitchen and the Wabash Retirement Center. She was also a faithful attendee of the Pittsboro, Ind., Class of 1950 Annual Reunion.
Surviving family members include her children: Tina and husband Gary “Topper” Ellis, Lisa and husband James McCuan, Charles and wife Beth Walter and Jodi and husband Bill Whitfield and Mike and wife Cathy Walter; grandchildren: David McCuan and fiancee Ashley Lievers, Megan and husband Greg Hoffman, Christa McCuan, Houston Ellis, Emily and husband Tom Speca, Jason McCuan, Laura Walter and fiancé Andre Kuhlenschmidt, Crockett Walter, Cate Michael Walter, Rebecca Walter, Isaac Whitfield and Ethan Whitfield; great-grandchildren: Noah Hoffman and Lydia Hoffman; and sisters: Ramona Herring, Sandra and husband Cary Reichard and Janet Hobson.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Gerald and Macel Hobson; husband: Robert Walter; brother: Gary Hobson; and infant twin granddaughters: Audrey Grace Walter and Erin Elizabeth Walter.
Funeral services will be held at 6:30 p.m. Monday, June 3, 2013, at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg. The Rev. Biff Moore and the Rev. Richard Bosecker will officiate. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Eastern Time Tuesday, June 4, 2013, at the Ladoga Cemetery in Ladoga, Ind. Visitation will be from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Monday, June 3, 2013, at Reed Funeral Chapel.
