The Galatia-Thompsonville High School softball team roped out 16 hits on the afternoon in a 9-6 victory over Crab Orchard.
Larissa Bond took the win in the circle, improving her record to 11-4 on the year. Bond went the distance, allowing five earned runs on seven hits, while striking out four.
Galatia-Thompsonville (14-8 overall, 7-0 in Greater Egyptian Conference) trailed 5-2 until the fourth inning when the Bearcats put up four runs to take a 6-5 lead. Galatia-Thompsonville got the insurance runs it needed in the sixth when Katie Jones smacked a two-out, two-run home run scoring Baylee Blackburn. Emily Reed also scored in that inning when she led off with a double and scored on Bond's sacrifice-fly.
Blackburn went 3-for-3 with an RBI, while Liz Sloan and Jones each went 2-for-4. Sloan finished with a pair of RBIs, while Reed went 1-for-3 with two runs scored.
The Bearcats are slated to travel to Gallatin County today (Tuesday) and then will play at Hardin County Wednesday and are at Pope County Thursday, before finishing the week off Friday at Carterville and playing in the May Day Tournament Saturday at Fairfield.
