Edgar DeVous, 85 of Marion and formerly of Eldorado, passed away at 8:10 p.m. on Wednesday, April 24, 2013, at his residence.
He was born Feb. 4, 1928, in Ridgway to Benjamin and Wilma Glover DeVous. He married Doris Prather DeVous on Sept. 28, 2002. He retired as a welder for Peabody Coal Company and served in the Navy during WWII and the Korean War. He was a member of Eldorado Church of God as well as the U.M.W.A. and he also enjoyed wood working.
He is survived by his wife Doris; two daughters Brenda (Joe) Zacha of Bethalto and Janet (Chuck) Cremeens of Equality; sons, John Prather of Nashville and Terry Prather of Marion; a sister, Louise Owen of Merrilville, Ind.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Benjamin Luke DeVous; and sisters, Katherine Zumbaum and Tillie Mieres.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 27, 2013, at Watson Funeral Home in Eldorado with the Rev. David Mays officiating and burial in Raleigh Masonic Cemetery with military rites. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time. Watson Funeral Home in Eldorado is in charge of the arrangements.
