After the Second World War in 1946 they moved to Glen’s family farm near Raleigh where Genevieve was to live until 1992. She was widowed on Nov. 2, 1957, when Glen, by then a State Senator, died suddenly. From 1996 until 2006 she resided in Harrisburg and after that in Geneseo, N.Y.
Genevieve is survived by her two sons, Robert of London, England, and Philip of Geneseo, N.Y.; by three grandchildren, Jennifer Mehlenbacher of Geneseo, N.Y., and Gavin and Oriel Jones of England; and by four great-granddaughters, Camiren and Kylie Mehlenbacher of Geneseo, N.Y., and Mabel and Verity Jones of London. Three sisters survive, Marilyn Wuestner and Carol Daniels of Houston, Texas, and Peggy Matkin of Slidell, La., as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Genevieve was well known both in the local Raleigh community and in Saline County at large. There will be a memorial service for her later in the year when her ashes will be laid to rest at the Raleigh Masonic Cemetery. An announcement of the date of the memorial service will appear later in the Daily Register.
