  • The Carrier Mills-Stonefort High School shop class is nearing completion of a playhouse that is being constructed for the CASA of Saline County fundraiser.
CASA or Court Appointed Special Advocates is a volunteer organization that provides services for children who are victims of abuse or other crimes.
"We give children a voice in courtrooms," said Trina Irwin, executive director of CASA of Saline County.
The playhouse is being built from material donated by Barnes Lumber of Harrisburg and will be the big ticket item in the raffle to be held at the pageant. Shop teacher Randy Boyd is very pleased with his student's efforts on this project, stating that all of the students in shop class have had a hand in the project.
The CASA fundraiser is a Mr. and Miss Peanut Pageant for two to 13 year olds with a circus theme and is being sponsored by the Harrisburg Kiwanis. The pageant is open to everyone with registration will be held on from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. April 23 at the SIC Foundation building. The pageant will be held 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 29 and will also be held at the SIC Foundation building in Harrisburg.
