The Eldorado School Board met in special session Thursday March 7 to vote on accepting letters of resignation from school staff.
The letters had to be accepted by March 8 in order to give legal counsel time to draw up papers regarding each person. The regularly scheduled meeting will take place on March 21.
The board accepted letters from: Mary Ann Barrett, a teacher's aid who resigned effective the end of the 2013-2014 school year; Dana Hull, who resigned as high school cheerleader sponsor; Erica James who also resigned as high school cheerleader sponsor; Dicy Siebert, who resigned as a part-time reading teacher; John Fry, who resigned as Elementary School Principal in order to return to the classroom and T.J. Zurliene, who resigned as boys high school head basketball coach. All these resignations were accepted unanimously.
Lori Quigley was nominated for the Peabody Educator Award.
The board then went into executive session on employment and dismissal of personnel.
After the executive session, at 10:50 p.m., the board announced that it had named Kyle Martin assistant high school basketball coach. Also the board awarded contracts to: Ryan Hobbs, three years and assistant superintendent effective July 1, 2013; Rick Cox, five years as administrative assistant effective July 1; Gary Siebert, five years as superintendent effective July 1.
School board member David Bartok voted no on Rick Cox's and Gary Siebert's contracts. Boadrd member Jason Kasier abstained from voting on Gary Siebert's contract.
Superintendent Gary Siebert said that the votes needed to be completed Thursday in order to give legal staff time to prepare briefs for any paid personnel that were going to be released. Siebert said there may be a need to release two full time positions and one part time position.
