Saline County State's Attorney Mike Henshaw said Friday in a press release that Roy Antonio Johnson, 26, Marion was sentenced to 10 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.
Sentenced in Saline County Circuit Court by Judge Walden E. Morris, Johnson will have one year of supervised release and pay costs.
Johnson pled guilty to the offense of unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon, a class 3 felony.
On Aug. 10, 2011, an information was filed charging Johnson. Class 3 felonies are normally punishable by a term of incarceration from two to five years in the Illinois Department of Corrections and a $25,000 fine, however, because Johnson is a convicted felon the conviction is punishable by a term of two to 10 years.
The investigation was led by Carrier Mills Police Department. Assistant State's Attorney Jason A. Olson led the successful prosecution of Johnson.
