  • Isaac Ingram is just thankful for the opportunity.
The Harrisburg High School senior didn't think that when he walked off the field at Rochester in a IHSA Class 4A state playoff semifinal loss that it would be the last time he would play football.
On Wednesday, he made certain it wouldn't be the last time when he signed his name on the dotted line where he will attend McKendree College next fall to continue his football career.
"I'm pretty excited," Ingram said minutes after finalizing the paper work in the school's media center. "I didn't think it was something that was going to happen, but I'm really looking forward to the next part of my career."
The next part of his career will be a one hour and 30 minute commute west to Lebanon where he hopes to help the Wildcats out with his pass rush that made him so effective at Harrisburg.
"It's close to home and that will be nice, but I'm excited to see how things go when I get up there. I think I'll like it a lot."
Ingram signed his NLOI on football signing day across the United States; Ingram joined his classmate Dakota Upchurch, who signed with Southern Illinois University.
The move for Ingram to McKendree is one that Harrisburg head coach Jason Roper will be beneficial for Ingram to grow as a student and as a player.
"This is a fantastic opportunity for Isaac, not only as a player, but as a student. I have no doubt he will succeed in the class room and on the football field at McKendree. I'm personally excited to see the strides that he makes and how it helps him grow as an individual."
