  • Friday Galatia Mayor David Harrawood met with the public, city workers, Red Cross volunteers and the Saline County Emergency Management Agency to report on the progress of the clean-up following Tuesday's F-2 tornado.
"Clean-up of the curbside debris piles should be complete by this afternoon," said Harrawood.
Allan C. Ninness, Director of Saline County Emergency Management Agency, said, "We are in the final stages of the city's clean up and trying to find if any citizens have unmet needs. The Red Cross is ending its feeding operations with the Friday noon meal. The Red Cross will be continuing its individual case work for the next few weeks."
A drive through the damaged streets found them clear. Ameren was putting the finishing touches on its repair work with only a few trucks present on Friday. Blue tarps covered many roofs and the manufactured home of Mike Peyton that was cut in half by a tree branch had been temporarily joined together by plastic sheeting.
