There are so many influences around that threaten our self-acceptance. The ads in magazines and the commercials on TV bombard us with the fact that we are not what we should be for one reason or another…by their standards, we fall short.
How about the influence from the entertainment industry? The idol worship, the imitation of dress, hairdo’s and thinking…yes, even our thinking can be affected. No matter where we turn, someone or something is telling us that we just don’t quite measure up. Because of these influences, our self-acceptance is threatened.
Is there anything wrong with who we are? Perfect? No. But acceptable? Yes. Did you know that each one of us is unique? Like a snowflake, there are no two of us alike. Do we realize how special it is to be unique…one of a kind?

I will never be what I thought I would,

I’m not even sure if I thought I could.

“I is what I is” and that’s okay,

For God is the one who made me this way.

“I is what I is…and that’s all that I is.”

Accept yourself for who you are…

and don’t take yourself so seriously.

Thanks Popeye. Would you pass the spinach, please?
