  • Mayor Eric Gregg said Thursday night that his plan to announce Friday his decision concerning the Poor Boys Lounge liquor license will be delayed at least a few business days.
"City Attorney Todd Bittle has experienced illness in his family and hasn't had time to study the matter," said Gregg. "I expect the decision will be delayed a few days."
The Lounge has been the center of controversy due to its continuing record of violence in the past few years. In the early morning of Jan. 1, 2013, a stabbing occurred at the bar.
Tuesday the mayor, sitting as the city's liquor commissioner, heard from the owner, Sheila Harmon about plans to improve the situation. He said he would have a decision by today but had to recant his announcement date.
He said he has one of three options:
1.) Revoking the liquor license permanently
2.) Suspending the liquor license for thirty days
3.) Fining the business up to $1,000
