Wilma Grace Kassner Banevich, 88, Carrier Mills, passed away at 9:15 a.m., Sunday, Dec. 30, 2012, at her residence.
Wilma was born in Ledford to the late Paul Kassner and Grace (Pickering) Kassner. She married Mike Banevich on Oct. 11, 1941, and he preceded her in death on March 13, 1999.
She retired as a packaging associate for the Gillette Corp. in LaGrange Park in 1983. She was a member of the New Salem Baptist Church in Carrier Mills. She will be remembered for her loving smile and kindness.
She is survived by daughter, Sandy (Randall) Drew, Clarendon Hills; two sons, George (Martha) Banevich, Monee, Dan (Sue Cherneski) Banevich, West Chester; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister, Colleen (Gerald) Emondson, Carrier Mills; brother, Frank (Ione) Kessner, Mt. Vernon; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and sisters Pauline Butler and Ruth Kassner and her brother Herman Kassner.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, at the Absher-Nicholson Funeral home in Carrier Mills with the Rev. Roy Dale Orr officiating. Burial will be in the Salem Cemetery in Carrier MIlls. Visitation will be 9 a.m. to the service time Friday. The preferred choice of remembrance would be memorials in her memory to the New Salem Baptist Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
