The Eldorado girls' basketball team improved to 5-2 on the season with a 52-32 win over Pope County Tuesday night.
Kourtney Phillips led all scorers with 15 points, while Ashton Unthank and Taylor Goodley finished in double digits for the Eagles, tacking on 13 and 10 respectively.
Paige Zertuche chipped in with six points, while Erica Graczyk finished with four, but grabbed a team-high nine rebounds.
Abby Steed and Dresdyn Bramlett came off the bench to finish with two points a piece.
"We came out real strong in the first half, running the floor hard and the big thing was when we caught the ball we were ready shoot," said head cocah Josh Bradley. Eldorado shot 11-of-20 from the floor in the first half and finished at 50 percent for the game.
"I thought Paige did a really good job of Tori Vaughn," Bradley added. "She only had three points at the half and finished with five, so I give a lot of credit to the defensive job by Paige."
Bradley also acknowledged that job Graczyk did on the boards.
"Graczyk really controlled the boards for us, which really allowed us to run the floor and get Pope Co. tired.
"This is the third game in a row for us now where Phillips, Unthank, and Goodley have all been in double digits scoring for us. They have really found a rhythm in the offense and they feed off each other. Overall it was a good effort from everyone team from the first quarter to the fourth."
The Eldorado junior varsity team improved to 3-0 on the year with a 24-11 win, where Jacquelyn Artman led the team in scoring with six points, while Lacy Jo Bradley and Steed each had five points. Riley Duckworth and Bramlett each tacked on three points, while Caitlyn Stafford finished with two.
Eldorado is in action again Thursday when they travel to McLeansboro.
