The Harrisburg High School football team held its awards banquet Thursday night at the Lions Club. The Bulldogs capped off an 11-2 season which ended in the semifinals of the Class 4A playoffs to eventual champion Rochester with their annual awards banquet Thursday night at the Lions Club.
Quarterback Ryne Roper was voted by teammates as the Most Valuable Player. Other awards included, Linebacker Brandon Pate was voted most Improved; Offensive Tackle Isaac Ingram most valuable offensive lineman; Fullback Dylan Hathaway voted most valuable back; Wideout Capel Henshaw most valuable receiver; Lineman Dakota Upchurch most valuable defensive lineman; Cornerback Justin Younger most valuable defensive back; Linebacker Tyler Owens voted most valuable linebacker.
In addition, Roper, Henshaw, Ingram, Upchurch, Hathaway and Jordan Quertermous were named to the SIRR-Ohio All Conference offensive team.
Defensive selections included, Justin Younger, Gabe Oglesby, Austin Eldridge, Tyler Bebout, Henshaw, Upchurch and Pate.
Academic All State selections, which require making first team all conference and a 3.5 GPA, included Roper, Henshaw, Quertermous, Oglesby and Younger.
Lastly, Upchurch was named to the Illinois All-State team in Class 4A as a defensive lineman. Upchurch was one of 18 players selected across the state.
