Bhaviakumar Patel voted for the first time in his life Thursday at the Saline County Courthouse.
Patel has lived in the United States for six years working at the Comfort Inn in Harrisburg. During that time he has pursued citizenship and was awarded in July.
Patel was born in India, but was not old enough to vote while he was there.
He moved to England, but never voted. He said the times for voting conflicted with his work duties.
He decided it was time to take full advantage of his American citizenship this year and said voting gave him a good feeling.
“I’m proud to be an American, sir,” Patel said.
