Joseph L. Williams, age 86, of Marion, died 6:30 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 16, 2012, in the Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion.
Joe was born in Carrier Mills May 26, 1926, son of the late William E. and Eithel M. (Beers) Williams. He married the former Orline Parks March 20, 1946, and she preceded him in death April 9, 2011.
Joe was a retired sales agent of 26 years with the Prudential Insurance Company, honorably served his country as a Navy veteran, was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Marion and was a member of the Marion Lions club.
He is survived by two daughters, Jane Ann Cruse of Marion and Carol Jo Gorman and husband Bob of Garden Valley, Idaho; four grandchildren, Rob Cruse of Marion, David (Lauren) Cruse of St. Louis, Mo., Eric Gorman of Alto Pass and Emilee (Chuck) Marks of Jonesboro; two great-grandchildren, Dallas and Jade Marks; a sister, Vera (Mack) Follmer of Eugene, Ore.; and a brother, Jerry (Judith) Williams of Hamilton, Mont.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Orline.
Graveside services with military honors will precede burial 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2012, at the Rosehill Cemetery in Marion with the Rev. Jeff VanDyke officiating. There will be no visitation and those planning to attend the service should meet at the cemetery prior to service time.
In lieu of flowers, the preferred choice of remembrance would be memorials to the Marion Regional Humane Society, P.O. Box 484, Marion, Ill. 62959. Envelopes will be available at the service.
