    HARRISBURG - The Harrisburg volleyball team lost in straight sets to Murphysboro, falling 25-22 and 25-20.
    "Murphysboro has a history of being a great volleyball team year after year and to come out and play them as close as we did is amazing," head coach Stephanie Ferrell said. "We communicated well on the court, moving quick to our spots and we were aggressive. It is the first time we sustained high intensity and momentum in both games. We played them back and forth both games, even leading in the second by six points at one time. It is the best we have played this year and it is still early in the season, with lots of games left. We will continue to build on the improvements that we have made, and strive to become better every game."
    McKenna Stanley finished with four blocks, two stuffs and four kills, while Shelby Boer had two blocks, one stuff and six kills.
    Jordan Stewart finished with two kills, while Kaitlyn Hutchison had one kill.
    Marcella Motsinger had six set assists, while Brittany Reynolds finished with five and Ashley Ferrell put up five dig assists on the night.
    The Harrisburg junior varsity team won in three sets, losing the first match 25-17, but storming back to take the next two 25-19 and 15-10.
    The freshmen team lost in straight sets, 25-17 and 25-21.
