  • Prep Cross Country: EHS, Carrier Mills shine at Dave Gray Invite

  • The Eldorado varsity girls cross country team placed first at the Dave Gray Invitational at NCOE Thursday afternoon.
    The team of Derain Corn, Kimberly Acheson, Lauren Schneider, Grace Pena and Lexa Carney helped lead the Eagles to victory.
    There was no team score for the Eldorado boys, but Christopher Acheson, Tyler Gass, Spencer Cox and Nate Lovellette all competed for head coach Gina Griffin.
    Out of the 23 runners for Eldorado, 15 of them received medals.
    The Eldorado junior varsity girls placed third with Lauryn Hampton, Bethany Smith, Molly Williams, Trinity Goolsby, Kynzie Sizemore, Trinity Cummins and Mackenzie Gidcomb competed.
    On the junior varsity boys' side, Eldorado finished third with Kolten Oglesby, Ben Byrd, Hunter Artman, Nolan Milligan, Wyatt Wells, Isaac Burtis and Blakely Watt all taking part.
    Carrier Mills also took part in the Invite where Strawbarry Hood placed 16th on the girls' side with a time of 25:32.
    On the varsity boys' side, Steven Binkley was 22nd with a time of 19:48 and David Goodman finished 34th with a time of 27:39.
    In the freshmen/sophomore race, the Carrier Mills' duo of Loren Whiting (5) and Jonah Crowder (10) also competed, finishing in a time of 19:18 and 21:47 respectively.
    "I thought the kids ran well," Carrier Mills' head coach Mike Eisenhauer said. "All of them improved their time from when we ran up here two weeks ago."
