Norma Jean Barter

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Norma Jean Barter, 77, of Marion, formerly of Harrisburg, passed away at 6:15 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2010, at Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion.

Norma was born on Monday, Dec. 11, 1933, in Harrisburg to the late William and Nelia (Partain) Douglas. She married J.D. Barter on Dec. 23, 1951, and he survives in Marion.

Norma earned a bachelor&#39;s degree in accounting and worked as a bookkeeper for various companies; most recently Norma worked as a sales associate for Dillard&#39;s in Marion. Norma was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Marion and a former member of the Eastern Star.

In addition to her husband J.D., Norma is survived by a daughter, Judi Barter of Atlanta, Ga.; and a sister-in-law, Pat Douglas of Hillsboro.

Norma was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Jeffrey Barter; and a brother, William E. Douglas.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 26, 2010, at Sunset Garden Cemetery in Harrisburg. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg.
