Prep Softball: Harrisburg hiccups at home against Patriots

Harrisburg had 11 strikeouts on the day in a 7-1 loss to Massac County Monday at Center Field.

The Bulldogs (15-5 overall, 3-2 SIRR Ohio) had just two hits on the day as Kerrigan Payne and Kaylee King each singled.

The lone run came when Payne got a basest and Harley McCabe came on as a courtesy runner. McCabe stole second and went to third on a wild pitch. After Kinzleigh Smothers walked putting runners at first and third, Smothers attempted a delayed steal of second and the throw back to the pitcher got away, allowing McCabe to score from third.

Payne took the loss in the circle, falling to 13-5 on the season. The senior gave up seven runs (four earned) on 10 hits, while striking out four.
