MARION -- It took three hurlers and a little luck but the Marion Wildcats put another mark in the win column Monday afternoon, downing Murphysboro 4-1 at the Crisp Sports Complex.

Outfielder Chase Austin pitched four scoreless innings before Gavin Plant took the mound in relief, pitching until the final inning, when Mason Gooch came in to finish off the Red Devils.

Trevor Jackson led the offensive attack, going 2-4 at the plate.

The Wildcats improved to 5-1.
