Second half rally falls short for MHS girls

MARION - A second half rally came up short for Marion in a 54-45 loss to Centralia in South Seven Conference action Tuesday night.

The Wildcats outscored Centralia 17-11 in the third quarter, but couldn't keep in the pace in the final eight minutes in the loss as the Wildcats were outscored 18-12.

Marion got down 14-9 after the first quarter and trailed 27-16 at the break.

Jerzy Bittle led all scorers with 27 points, including six 3-pointers on the evening.

Karris Rhine netted nine points for the Wildcats, while Gracie Connor scored six points and Kristen Kadela tacked on three points.

Centralia put two players in double figures as Jasiyah Wallace finished with 14 points, while Jalea Shered tossed on 12 points.

Marion is scheduled to return to the court Saturday morning against Cahokia at 11:30 a.m.
