Prep Boys Basketball: Harrisburg closes out CWCIT with win over Fairfield
Harrisburg closed out the Carmi-White County Invitational Tournament in style, knocking off Fairfield 62-53.
The Bulldogs (6-14) put three players in double figures as Michael Godsey had a co-game-high 18 points, while Nate Lawrence chipped in with 17 point and Chris Allen scored 16 points. Cameron Ande netted nine points, while Myles Crank tossed in two.
Harrisburg went 23-for-34 from the field, including a 3-for-8 mark from 3-point range and 13-of-19 from the free-throw line.
Harrisburg, despite having 13 turnovers, held Fairfield to 21-for-52 from the field, while finishing 8-for-23 from 3-point range.
The Mules (15-9) got 18 points from McGwire Taylor and Blaine Miller rounded out double figure scoring with 12 points.
On Saturday morning, Harrisburg lost its second overtime game of the Carmi-White County Tournament, losing to Evansville Day 75-74.
Evansville Day jumped out to a 21-17 first quarter lead and led 37-28 at halftime. The Bulldogs outscored Day 21-17 in the third quarter and 18-13 in the fourth quarter to tie the game 67 at the end of regulation.
The Bulldogs got 23 points from Cameron Ande, while Nate Lawrence tossed 22 points and Chris Allen rounded out the double figure scoring with 12 points.
Michael Godsey added eight points, while Ross Rider scored seven and Myles Crank tacked on two points.

Michael Godsey scored a game-high 21 points and Nate Lawrence added 18 as Harrisburg lost 62-59 in overtime to Mt. Vernon, Indiana Thursday night at the Carmi-White County Invitational Tournament.
Harrisburg was down by as many as 16 points and was up two with three seconds to go in regulation. Mt. Vernon had the length of the floor to go, but the Bulldogs fouled on aa half court shot that sent the game into OT, where Harrisburg was outscored 7-4.
Harrisburg was down 8-4 after the first quarter and trailed 23-17 at halftime. The Wildcats outscored Harrisburg 22-16 in the third quarter to take a 45-33 lead into the final eight minutes, where the Bulldogs rallied to outscore Mt. Vernon 22-10.
Harrisburg shot 19-for-41 from the field and went 21-for-27 from the free-throw line.
Cameron And netted nine for the Bulldogs, while Chris Allen finished with four points. Myles Crank tacked on three points, while Ross Rider and Vaundre McIntosh tossed in two points.
