EHT Recaps: Harrisburg rolls past Carrier Mills

Harrisburg put three players in double figures and shook off some rust in posting a 73-37 win over Carrier Mills-Stonefort Monday night at the Eldorado Holiday Tournament.

Cameron Ande led all scorers with 25 points, while Chris Allen and Vaundre McIntosh each tacked on 12 points a piece.

Harrisburg came away with the most points scored as a team on Day 1, edging out Massac County, who scored 66 in its win over Edwards County.

The win snapped a three-game losing streak for Harrisburg (4-5) and will now play Massac County in Tuesday night's quarterfinals at 8:30 p.m.

For Harrisburg assistant coach Erik Griffin, filling in for Randy Smithpeters, the Christmas break came at a good time.

"We had a great week of practice and were able to refocus," Griffin said. "The Christmas break came at the right time and t the kids rededicated themselves. We had more energy, played a lot harder, everyone contributed and it was just good to see them get a win,"

After jumping out to a 18-7 first quarter lead, Harrisburg built a 26-9 lead in the second quarter and went into the locker room up 34-19.

The Bulldogs (4-5) led 59-32 after three quarters and had running clock in the final eight minutes of action.

Nate Lawrence netted nine points for Harrisburg, while Ross Rider finished with five points. Michael Godsey flipped in four points, while Myles Crank, Tevin Godsey and Karmello Downey all had two points.

Carrier Mills-Stonefort was led by 16 points form Kaden Sanders, while Caden VanMeter tossed in 11 points. Colton Mitchell added eight points and Donte Ellis tacked on two points.

The Wildcats (6-6) will Edwards County in the consolation bracket at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday.
