Prep Bowling: Harrisburg finishes 11th at Belleville East Invite

The Harrisburg boys and girls' bowling teams each finished 11th out of 16 teams over the weekend at the Belleville East Invitational Saturday.

Abbie Graham led the girls with a 1123 for six games, followed by Karol Simmons at 998.

Evan McDermott bowled a 1215 for the Bulldogs, while Noah Arnold added a 1074. Matt Watson finished with a 1053 and Triton Kielhorn had a 1011.

"Both teams started slow and never really got going," Harrisburg head coach Doug Cottom said. "The girls are still shorthanded, but I was pleased with how well Abbie is playing for the girls."

The Harrisburg girls' bowling team notched a 1961-1945 win at Massac County late last week.

Abby Graham led the Bulldogs with a season-high 595, just under a 200 average.

On the boys' side, Evan McDermott bowled a 637 and Noah Arnold added a 509 in a 2543-2439 loss to the Patriots.

Earlier in the week, the Harrisburg boys won at home against Carbondale, beating the Terriers 2610-2361, where McDermott had a 662.

Triton Kielhorn chipped in with a 237 games, his high of the year.

On the girls' side, freshman Karol Simmons paced the Bulldogs with a 461 in a 2066-1833 losss to Carbondale.
