Prep Football: Bulldogs win overtime thriller over Massac Co.

A Bryant Lester three-yard plunge in overtime was the difference for Harrisburg as the Bulldogs picked up aa 30-22 Southern Illinois River-To-River Ohio road win Friday night at Massac County.

The Bulldogs, who improved to 4-1 overall and are now 2-0 in league play, trailed the Patriots 14-0 at halftime before mountain the comeback.

A Massac County fumble on the opening kickoff of the second half set up Lester's first score of the night as the senior fullback bulled his way in from three yards out and to end the third quarter, Lester again found paydirt, this time from 18 yards out to give Harrisburg a 16-14 lead.

With 3:22 left to play in the fourth quarter, a tipped pass off the hands of Tysen Satterfield resulted in a 76-yard catch for Massac's McCuan, giving the Patriots a 22-16 advantage.

Down - but not out - and facing a fourth and sixth, the Bulldogs got an 18-yard touchdown run, compliments of Ross Rider with 18 seconds to play, knotting the game at 22-all.

Lester led the Bulldogs with the ground game, collecting 122 yards on 28 carries, while scoring three TD's. Sam Martin had two carries for 19 yards, while Rider finished with five carries for 15 yards. Rider also hauled in two receptions for 24 yards and a score, while QB Ben Gulley went 3-for-10 for 20 yards.

Harrisburg hits the road Friday and will travel to Benton, who picked up a 41-0 win over West Frankfort Saturday.

Harrisburg and Murphysboro remain 2-0 in the SIRR Ohio Division; Benton is 2-0, while West Frankfort, Herrin and Massac County are now both 0-2.
