Brown, Stewart shine at USSSA All State All-Star Game

A pair of Harrisburg Middle School softball players and teammates on the Team Mascoutah travel team, Ava Brown and Kinzley Stewart were selected for the USSSA All State All-Star Game.

The games took place this past weekend and were held at Shawnee Sports Complex in Cape Girardeau, Missouri as the Harrisburg duo played for Team SHOW and competed against Team Powers and Team Knighten.

Brown and Stewart reached base safely eight times in both games, never recording an out at the plate and won both games.

The All State All-Star Game highlighted players who have exceeded the standards in the areas of sportsmanship, effort, and tournament performance. Brown and Stewart were nominated throughout the season at Play It Forward Sportz (USSSA) events in Kentucky, Southern Illinois and Southeast Missouri. Players are nominated by coaches, opposing coaches, umpires and our staff and are nominated for displaying outstanding sportsmanship, great overall effort, and exceptional tournament performance. Players who have participated in a USSSA Play It Forward Sportz event are eligible for the All-State Games.

At the event, Brown (a catcher) competed in the skill competition during the event and won the championship in the throwing competition (in her age group).
