Benton girls run well at Pinckneyville

The Benton girls' track and field team took 10th at Monday's Pinckneyville meet as the Rangerettes scored 34 points and had a handful of highlights.
Mia Wills breaks into BCHS Top 10 in the 800 meter run, coming in ninth all-time, finishing at 2:33.5 and was fifth overall in the field Monday.
The 4x200 meter relay team of Bryli Minor, Blakely Johnson, Mya Mumbower and Laindree Richardson ran a season best time by three seconds, finishing with a time of 58.7 and was sixth overall.
Hailey Wallace turned in a second place finish as she was edged at at the finish line in the 1600 meter run, but still ran a season best time of 5:59.2
In the 100 meter dash, Brooklyn Frailey had a time of 15.4 and Chloe Hill turned in a time of 15.7.
Hill also had a season best time of 33.3 in the 200 meter dash, while Frailey had a time of 33.
Peyton Tieffel's 69.1 time in the 400 meter dash was a season best and Jacey Eubanks had a time of 71.2 for a personal record.
In the shot put, Richardson had a toss of 28-feet-1.5 and Kylie Cockrum went 25-feet-4 and in the discuss, Richardson led Benton with a heave of 79-3 and Cockrum went 78-5.
"We had a handful of PR's and season best performances Monday," BCHS head coach Andy Sloan said. "Although our team score wasn't where it has been, we are still plugging kids in different events and finding out strengths and weaknesses. We continue to be proud of effort and focus."
